Backyard Bridal Shower: Tea Party

I have to admit that I’m not much of a bridal shower fan.  Just the idea of a bunch of girls wearing flowered sun dresses, eating tea sandwiches and ooh-ing and aah-ing over various kitchen items isn’t really my thing.  But this weekend I attended/hosted a tea party-themed shower that had a lot of great elements.

The shower was held in my backyard, where we set up a large tent with tables and chairs.  These pink tea pots made great flower holders for the centerpieces.

There were many different kinds of food served at the party.  These tea sandwiches were some of my favorites.  There were french onion cucumber sandwiches on rye bread, and then heart-shaped chicken salad and egg salad sandwiches.  It’s hard to tell in the picture, but the heart-shaped sandwiches say “be mine” on them.  A little over-the-top for my taste, but still delicious.

Quiche and Scones

For the rest of the food, we served scones, quiches, and cold soups.

All of the entrees had these pink signs in front of them with the name of the dish in both English and French.

Then we set up a beverage table where we served several different types of wine, along with mimosas, iced tea, soda and water.

The Chocolate Fountain

And last, but most definitely not least, there was a chocolate fountain with all the necessary fixings: cookies, pretzels, strawberries, raspberries, bananas, pineapples, rice-krispy treats, marshmallows, and probably more that I’m forgetting.  It was amazing.  Anyone having any kind of party should definitely invest in a chocolate fountain.  Well worth it.
